Congratulations to Paul On His Specialty Board Certification!
One thing we are proud of at Summit Physical Therapy is our experienced staff of physical therapists. Between John, Rob, Lisa and Mark there is an average of 25 years of experience. And now we are very happy and proud to announce that our newest team member, Paul, has fulfilled the requirements of becoming an Orthopedic Certified Specialist. He becomes one of the 372 physical therapists in New Jersey to hold an OCS certification.
You may ask, what exactly is an Orthopedic Certified Specialist and how does it help me?
From the APTA Orthopedic Specialist Certification Candidate Guide - The “APTA established the specialist certification program in 1978 to provide formal recognition for physical therapists with advanced clinical knowledge, experience, and skills in a special area of practice, and to assist consumers and the health care community to identify physical therapy specialists.”
The test itself requires the physical therapist to be proficient and up to date in areas such as diagnosis, screening for serious pathology, treatment techniques, prognosis, proper testing, proper post-surgical care, research, etc. For you as a patient, this certification denotes that your therapist is up to date in the most recent research regarding your condition and that this knowledge may help you on your path to wellness. The certification is also geared toward improving diagnostic skills so patients can be more confident in seeking a first opinion from a physical therapist.
So, between an average of 25 years of experience and Paul's new certification, you can feel assured that you can count on us to give you the best care.
